The GMAT ® Test

GMAT Reasoning Test is standardized test for under graduate admissions in the United States and other countries in Europe. GMAT measures critical thinking skills that are needed for academic success in college. It accesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems. GMAT is three hours and 45 minutes long and consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing.

The GMAT test has three sections – Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative Section and the Verbal Section.

Analytical Writing Assessment

It consists two 30-minutes writing tasks – Analysis of an Issue and Analysis of an Argument. Analysis of an Issue – a topic will be provided and test takers need to analyze the issue presented and explain your point of view on the topic. This tests your ability to explore the complexities of an issue or opinion. Analysis of an Argument – a topic will be provided and test takers need to analyze the reasoning behind a given argument and write a critique of that argument. This measures your ability to formulate an appropriate and constructive critique of a specific conclusion.

The Quantitative Section

The Quantitative Section consists of 37 multiple choice questions that must be answered within a time constraints of 75 minutes. This section contains two question types – Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving.

The Verbal Section

This section contains 41 multiple choice questions (MCQs) of three question types – Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning and Sentence Correction. Test takers are allowed a maximum of 75 minutes to complete the entire section. Quantitative and Verbal sections are delivered in a computer adaptive format. Questions in these sections are dynamically selected as you take the test; the MCQs will adjust to your ability level, and your test will be unique.
