IELTS ® (International English Language Testing System)

  • measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills
  • listening, writing, reading and speaking – for people who intend to study and work in countries where the language of communication in English.
  • It is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand,almost all European countries and South African academic institutions.

Academic Training

The students seeking admissions to undergraduate or postgraduate programs are required to take the Academic Training version. General Training: The students seeking to study at school, on a course not at degree level,or people applying for immigration are required to take the General Training version.

General Format of the IELTS

The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes. All test takers take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing Modules.The first three modules – Listening, Reading and Writing – must be completed in one day. The Speaking Module may be taken,at the discretion of the test centre, in the period seven days before or after the other Modules.The minimum score accepted for a course ranges from 5.0 – 7.5, depending upon courses and institutes you are applying to. The most common requirement is a band score of 5.5 to 6.5
